Afternoon all.

Wife is wanting a trip to Euro Disney, we planned on taking the kids to Florida one but funds just don't go as far as they did when we last went (2008) so a trip in the interim to Paris is on the cards.

Looking at late August and wanted to see if any of the PH collective had stopped at the Davy Crockett? looking at a premium lodge and will be driving over in the Transporter (got to justify buying it smile )

We looked at flying and also not stopping at the resort hotels but you get park tickets and parking included with the hotel packages.

Any views, recommendations, advice would be appreciated.

Save a bit longer and go to Florida.

Seriously stay off-site at some like the Drury Plaza and you'll save a bundle.

You're never in the hotel, so don't bother. Save 25% and stay off-site. I'm just back and stayed at the Moxy in Val D'Europe. It's literally minutes to Disney (including the walk to the station), the tickets are €2 return and they run late enough to see the fireworks each night.

Using the train means you don't have the bunfight sith the shuttles that do the rounds for the other hotels to the North.

We stayed in the Dave Crockett several years ago, it was pretty tired then hopefully had a refurb in the last few years.
It was only a short drive from the park, and you could get in before general admission.
We didn’t really use the facilities on site as in Disney most of the time.

I can understand wanting to save money but as an alternative, the other option is to stay in one of the hotels which is walking distance to the park. You get an extra hour in the morning in the park as well, which is especially useful if you're trying to squeeze everything in to a short trip.

I'd recommend this, it's useful to take a nap in the middle of the day if you have younger kids who want to stay up and watch the fireworks. However the closer ones are quite a lot more €€€...

We stayed in Davy Crockett many years ago. Portakabins with timber cladding and interior quality to match. Wouldn't recommend.

I've stayed there twice and it's been great each time. Really easy to get to and from the park, swiming pool is decent and the food on site is ok. I'd take ipads for netflix or streamign services as the TV is all in french and there is a big mall here that all you wine and food is much cheaper

As for Disney in Florida, it's got really expensive in the parks and I find that out of the rides they have in both Paris and Orlando, the versions in paris are better (apart from Slinky dog)

Horses for courses. We quite liked it, set within a forest setting and pleasant. Would much rather that than a stuffy hotel with hundreds of rooms stacked on top of each other with pictures of Disney character or whatever plastering the walls.

But yeah, I did not really buy into the Disney 'magic' of spending most of the days in the park queuing. Had a decent enough time though, and I thought the park was impressive.
