Cordoba and Granada
Discussion
Think of a last minute trip to Andalusia in a couple of weeks. The Alhambra is top of the list but the rough plan was two nights in Cordoba, two in Seville and two by the pool in a lovely hotel in the countryside. Hire a soft top car.
Any recommendations on hotels, restaurants, sights and car hire companies would be appreciated.

Stayed in Cordoba about 18 months ago at Hospes Palacio del Bailío, a very nice hotel with a glass restaurant floor looking down on to
the ruins of Roman villa hidden beneath it which you can also have a tour of.

The Mosque-Cathedral is spectacularly large and well worth a visit. The town and bridge over the river are a lovely sight at night when all lit up.

We visited Cordoba last October and stayed at the Parador which, being elevated, has commanding views over the city below. The restaurant there was fine, as you might expect
However for a special meal we went to ReComiendo Power https://www.recomiendopower.com
Very very different from any other food that you are likely to come across in Andalusia. The menu that we had was made up of 17-elements, none of which you could describe as a main course. It was far more akin to working your way through a box of chocolates that tease both the brain and palate. There were only perhaps 25-covers with 3-staff serving, they also added a different dimension explaining just what you were about to eat.
It is not cheap and its unlikely to be the sort of place you would visit twice. It claims to be the 6th best restaurant in Spain and the 24th in Europe. I am not sure about that, but it does offer a very memorable dining experience. You do need to book well in advance.
The city itself was somewhat disappointing and does not compare well to either Malaga, or Granada.

Very timely thread. We are getting the boat to Cherbourg tomorrow and have a long drive to Granada for a wedding at the beginning of June. We’re in no great rush, we aim to get there late Thursday or maybe Friday. Any recommendations for dog friendly accommodation on the way down through France? Or any must sees. We’re doing the Millau Viaduct on the way back.
Just booked a table at Atelier Casa Comidas, will check out anything else.
