I need to hire a car for a couple of days in the summer at Stanstead airport, based on a quick search online I have ruled out Greenmotion as they seem to be more hassle than they are worth if anything goes wrong.

I have a reasonable offer from Alamo and am tempted to go with them or should I just swallow the additional cost and go for a more recognised (to me at least) name like Europcar/Enterprise.

All opinions/experiences welcome.

Alamo is a pretty big name.

I think, so long as you don't damage it (or take out additional insurance so you are covered for that), and return it with the correct amount of fuel, then any of them should be fine.

Just make sure you check the car for any damage before you leave the airport, and report it to them.

Alamo is Enterprise so you’ll be fine.

All the main players work out of the Car Rental Village, a short free bus ride from the terminal. Clowns such as Green Motion are based at a hotel on the outskirts.

Definitely stick to one of the main companies, I've used Enterprise from there several times, they're also one of the cheapest and have a fair damage policy.

Where ever I need a car I`ve always booked through https://www.rentalcars.com/ you end up with a car from one of the big players. Just make sure to book full insurance and don't get tricked with "extras" at the desk .
