I'm turning 40 in July and want to go 'somewhere special' on holiday but can't seem to make up my mind where to go so open to suggestions.

We want somewhere hot, all inclusive, adult only, and I'd like a swim up room and ideally some a la cart dining options as well.

I've looked at the usual holidays in Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Zanzibar etc but can't seem to find what I want.

The Caribbean locations all look great but for most of them it's the rainy reason so I guess they're out.

July also doesn't seem to be the right time for Mexico and I just had a quick look at Bora Bora but that's a bit out of budget unfortunately.

Open to suggestions/idea's and hotel/country recommendations.

Would definitely recommend SENSATORI Atlantica Dreams Resort and Spa in Rhodes. Beautiful.

Our last holiday was in Rhodes, but I must admit this does look rather nice.

It's not adults only but I do really like the look of those 'Beachfront Suite with Sea View, Private Pool and Terrace' and the a la cart options.

Thank you for that, maybe we need to remove the 'adults only' part from our search...

Not sure you’ll get everything on the criteria.

Take a look at:
TRS Ibiza - (no swim up)
Daios Cove - (not adults only but not over run with kids!)

If you get a swim up room away from the main pool it’s great. Really quiet. Just depends on the room location.

Mauritius? Land of all inclusive. Did it the year before last - wonderful - but, do stick to adult only - we went to a family friendly resort (Zilwa Attitude) and it was overrun with families/kids who proper took the piss out of the "no kids" areas and ruined the evening entertainment.

The thread is great as you get personal suggestions. Unless you have already then calling the likes of trailfilnders and seeing what they suggest might be worthwhile too. There are obviously lots of small independent travel advisors but think finding one that truly gets you can be a bit like trying to find the right IFA.

I have messaged a independent travel advisor who was recommended by a colleague, but also quite happy with personal recommendations.

I've heard of (and been to) 'Sandals' and 'Dreams' resorts, but there must be more nice all inclusive resorts like that, like Ikos mentioned above so happy to hear where people would recommend.

Who in the name of fk pays £7k to go on a “special” holiday in the Med?????!!

I thought the rainy season in the Carib was Sept/Oct time? We always go then as the prices tend to be optimal because it’s advertised as rainy n Hurricane time. Which equates to 30mins of rain on some days or a fun hurricane to watch blow through.

Up the budget and go to Constance Moofushi in the Maldives in a water villa for a week. It's wet season but will still be paradise.

I can recommend any of the Mitsis 5 star 'premium collection' resorts. Crete, Kos or Rhodes.

Not sure I agree. Outside the resorts there’s little to nothing worth seeing or doing. It’s a bloody long way to go to sit on a beach. Glad I went but I’d never go back

We did Borneo in late June/July and that keeps the decent weather before the rainy season.

If you want special then look no further than Bunga Raya on Gaya Island - absolutely no comparison to the Med…
