Ouch. I'm suprised they had any money left after paying for the official excursion.
One of the best tours we had was Belize City - we walked straight off the port past security and into the very 'vibrant' city leaving our two kids on the boat, a local asked us if we wanted a tour in his Mazda 626 with most of the windscreen missing, and we went with it.
Got proper bked by the security staff when we got back!

That discussion board is even worse than PH! There were probably 3 posts about the robbery and then it descended into an argument over whether or not to take your passport ashore hehe

Whilst I’m sure it was very scary for the passengers on our most recent trip to South Africa we were simply baffled by how many American tourists conducted themselves there. Absolutely dripping in jewellery, obviously being American quite loud so identifiable from a mile away and quite frankly just sitting ducks for this sort of thing, it may well not be the case for these particular tourists and they were just very unlucky but if I were a betting man….

Why would a cruise stop in Gqeberha? So everyone can pile into Addo?

Sounds like the tour guide was pretty brave trying to tackle someone with a gun using an umbrella!

yikes

I must admit that it does sound like a 'bit' of a hair-raising experience!
