BA Baggage allowance when booked with Avios
Discussion
Riddle me this. Booked a ticket to Bulgaria with BA and paid with Avios. Economy. I just checked and I have 1 x hold baggage included (plus overhead of course).
Mate is on same flight - same economy, he didn't book with Avios - he has no baggage allowance in the hold and his ticket clearly states this.
What gives? Is it becasue I booked with Avios and have an "Economy" fare, but be booked some other way and has a "basic" fare?
If I search BA they mention a "basic fare" - no baggage, and a "plus" fare - inc baggage.

Both our tickets (well, online confirmations) say they are "economy".

I reckon your mate has clicked on basic baggage without thinking about it, whereas you clicked on plus baggage. BA have had the two fares for quite a while now.
Nothing to do with an Avios or a non Avios booking.

It is to do with avios. Avios redemptions always get baggage allowance, your only choice for redemption is economy or club on a short haul route. Both come with baggage. If paying cash there are 3 fare buckets, economy basic, economy plus and Club, with the first one not having any baggage allowance.Nothing to do with an Avios or a non Avios booking.
