I get married later this year and have a 4 week road trip booked, well I say road trip - we fly into Atlanta on 3rd October and depart DC 4 weeks later.

So far we only really know that we want to see a spaceX launch (roughly 5th October) from Kennedy along with a few places we would like to revisit (Savannah GA).

I am looking for ideas or recommendations from anyone for places of interest (national parks, driving roads, restaurants, points of interest, wacky, different etc) in: Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia.

Last time we did a US road trip was 2017 and did coast to coast - that was cool but this time I want to see and do more.

I would say don’t neglect Tennessee.

Chattanooga is a cool little town. If you want to something active and a bit different there’s a lodge at the Top of Mount Le Conte. Very basic and rustic but the views are incredible over the Great Smoky mountains. The blue ridge parkway has some fantastic sections for driving.

In North Carolina I was very fond of Asheville.

In South Carolina definitely worth spending a few nights in Charleston.

The obvious suggestion would be to drive the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway scenic highways.

They join together and take you from near Washington DC in the north to North Carolina in the south, and not to far from Atlanta.

Goes past places like Asheville (as mentioned already).

The southern end is close to famous roads like The Tail of the Dragon, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and also Dolly Parton's Dollywood smile

Will be NASCAR season in October-Nov at Talladega, Charlotte and Martinsville. They go between FL and Vegas between Charlotte and Martinsville.

The latter being one of the best tracks to watch a race at IMHO as you can see the entire track (its a short oval) from most seats. Just watch out for the weather.

O/H loves Tennessee, Nashville specifically so we may swing by there for a night or two.

I recall passing Chattanooga on the way to Nashville from Atlanta and some brief googling suggesting it was worth a visit.

Thanks for the other tips, will add it to my research.

I have already added NASCAR to the "to do" list, and the MLB for the O/H, Ta!

I've seen a NASCAR race in person (in Vegas) and can recommend it, even if you don't follow the series normally.

It is a gloriously thunderous experience, perhaps only beaten by Top Fuel dragsters.

Plus the people watching is first rate.
