My girlfriend and I were thinking of going to Brighton for the weekend. We found some quite nice places to stay but none have parking. Started to look around for 24 hour parking and really surprised by the cost. Cannot find any 24 hour park and rides either. Any advice?

I have searched previous posts but most appear to be several years out of date.

You can park for a reasonable price at the Marina and then a pleasant walk into town.

or

Park at ASDA in Patcham (north Brighton at the bottom of the A/M23) for free. Bus into town is about 15 mins.

Brighton Council (the Green party) is notoriously anti car. Hence exorbitant car parking charges and shortage of parking places. Also 20 mph everywhere and the town is full of bus lanes.

I think the Marina multistorey is limited to 4 hours, but it is free. Not sure I'd park there overnight... the stairwells smell of wee if you get my drift...

Funnily enough, I just booked a drive on yourparkingspace - (That sounds like an advert :P ) Probably one of the cheaper methods.

If you stay at the leonardo hotel, you can park in the lanes carpark below for a "reduced" day rate of "only" £25 if memory serves.

Annoyingly, the park and rides all restrict overnight stays or they'd be perfect.

When I lived in SE London I did it a few times, but took the train. By the time you pay for fuel and parking and sat in a traffic jam on the M23 (bcos it’s a sunny weekend) the train is not much more and of course you can enjoy a few more beers. Not very PH I know but if you don’t think you need the car once there, why not?

One thing we used to do was to park in the outskirts where there were no parking charges or restrictions then phone a Brighton taxi firm and get picked up outside XX A Street and into Brighton for less than £10.

NEED TO REMEMBER THE ADDRESS YOU PARKED AT!!!

I used just park last year when I went. Got a pretty secure parking space for a reasonable cost, a few minutes walk from where we were staying (Premier Inn in the town centre).

The access was a bit tight though!

My Mrs adores Brighton, train from London is easy for a weekend break and the Thameslink go right through from north of London now, grab a beer at the station enjoy the view. Pricing went a bit silly during the scamdemic but it's settled down now, last weekends trip a Railcard more than paid for itself for the single outing.

Or set a Google map place. We've done this a couple of times, find a sleepy suburb with no parking restrictions a couple of minutes from a frequent bus route.

As suggested if the train is an option there's a Leonardo right next to it which is not too shabby.

Should be able to park somewhere free and safe in Shoreham or Southwick (ummmm...) and walk to their local train station which is direct to Brighton.

Parking at the station isn’t too expensive.

We park at the regency square underground car park, next to the beach and the beach front hotels..

Better staying lower down, so you don't have to climb the hill back to the hotel wink

Myhotel is well placed and pretty nice, both the cheaper rooms and the higher options. Got upgraded to one of the corner suites last time, pretty sweet. No "sea view" if that's what you have to have but TBF we're of the "how long do you spend sitting in your room looking at it" persuasion. Go to a bar ffs!
