One of my kids is finishing University in the next week or so and has a holiday planned with her friends to SE Asia for a month (starting at the end of April).

She assumed that the vaccination process would be fairly straightforward. She's aware that she may need to get vaccinated privately but she is having problems finding out WHAT vaccinations she actually needs. Her University GP would be able to tell her but can only offer a telephone appointment a week before they are due to leave and her "Home" GP won't tell her as she is no longer registered with them.

What is the quickest way for her to find out what vaccinations she needs? She doesn't want to have any that she might already have had and might still be "current".

Thanks in advance

I booked in with a travel clinic with my GP, they called and checked where/when I was going and then recommended the vaccinations and booked in to get them.

The issue is that she might have had some of those already, she needs to know which ones she needs and hasn't had..

Boots and Superdrug the chemists do a travel vaccination service. Try booking an appointment online.

Where in SE Asia?. There is no vaccination requirement for any of the tourist routes that I know of unless she is really going off the beaten track.

The NHS app (not the c19 one) has a list of your vaccination records.

Can't she look on her nhs app? Pretty sure mine are shown on there.

She might already have left it a bit late. If the app doesn't work then it's worth trying an econsult. First step is to work out if there are any jabs recommended beyond the standard childhood ones like tetanus etc.

I'll restate somthing I said on a similar thread, don't let her think vaccines are a cure all, there appears to be is a lot of Dengue about at the moment, you can only avoid that by acting sensble. The thing that scares me is Hepatitis A, which is carried by many people and best is avoided by watching where you eat.
25 years on Asia, and all I do now is keep tetanus up to date.
When I worked on Borneo there was a colhera out break in the town I lived in, vaccine doesn't completely teplace common sense.

Thanks all

Re: the NHS App apparently it doesn't list the immunisations she's had under the "Immunisations" tab. Instead they're listed under the "Medications" tab so because it lists every single medication she's ever had (she says) it's not clear what was medication and what was Immunisation.

@Groundeffect - she and her mates are intending on going to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia/Bali, and then back to Sri Lanka.

Anyway problem sorted - she emailed the "new" GP and they have managed to email her a list of which immunisations she's had. She's made an appointment at Boots next Friday so (hopefully) they'll be able to give her whatever immunisations she needs

Left it late IMO, some of those types of shots require a couple of weeks break between each one.

Fascinated to know which ones she "needs" for SE Asia if not going off the beaten track.

Need is probably a strong word but if you haven’t had them before I’d guess Hep A, Hep B and Typhoid maybe?

Dip and Tetanus booster possibly.

Thanks - Ill mention it to her.

Google said:
The vaccination against hepatitis A is usually given as a single initial injection, with a second dose 6 to 12 months later. Two doses should protect you for at least 25 years.
I'm hoping that will be one of the ones she has had it before as she has been abroad several times.

Fair enough - you are right - "need" is strong, on the tourist route - but, good to have them anyhow, particularly hep
