Wanted to take our puppy to Italy in a few months time and hire a car out there. Anyone know which airlines will allow her to travel in a dog crate in the cabin itself, as opposed to in the hold.

Thanks in advance! smile

Dogs are not allowed to fly in the cabin when entering the UK and Iceland, no matter which airline you’re flying.

KLM: https://www.klm.co.uk/information/pets

...and Lufthansa: https://www.lufthansa.com/gb/en/travelling-with-an...

(but they've got to be pretty compact. What breed, how old?)

KLM:

Pets in the cabin
You can bring 1 cat or dog with you in the cabin when travelling in Economy Class, or when travelling in Business Class within Europe.

Lufthansa:

Lufthansa also reserves the right to apply even stricter regulations where necessary and refuse bookings on certain routes (such as to the UK, Ireland, or Bangalore in India, for example) to exclude the animal from travel.

So it looks like the only way is if you have a service dog:

BA about service dogs:

Travelling to the UK
Due to entry regulations into the UK, you will need to ensure that you have contacted and received approval from the UK animal reception centre at least 72 hours before prior to your flight. Failure to comply with this requirement may mean we are unable to accept you for travel back to the UK.

Thanks Guys. She's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy - about 9 months old at the time we want to travel.

Your only practical option is to travel by car from the UK or put the dog in the hold....

What's wrong with the hold, for the dog?
