I've got the first roadtrip planned in an A110 in May. Current agenda:

Ghent (4 nights) as a base to do Bruges; Antwerp; Rotterdam (Kinderdik); Flanders
Versailles (2 nights) try and get down to Chenonceau
Paris (2nights); leaving the A110 on the Versailles hotel car park and go in via train
Arras (1 night); via Monet's Garden

Tips, suggestions - route? Food? Sights?

If you a Belgian beer fan that it's worth a slight detour to West Vletern to pick up some of their world famous beer (west 10)

In Ghent try Het Waterhuis aan de Bierkant for drinks by the canal, very central and good spot to people watch etc. For some awesome Belgian beer try
Trollekelder, the beer menu is insane but so are the stairs to the toilets so go before you have too many strong beers!
Didn't pay attention to where we ate I'm afraid, but we had a few good meals in the main square.

Het Velootje is an experience! Gruut brewery bar also good, but then again almost every bar in Ghent is

I was in Arras a couple of weeks ago. I can recommend the Wellington Quarries and the Commonwealth War Graves workshop if you have any interest in WW1.

Namur & Dinant worth a day trip visit if you fancy going a bit further south in Belgium.

Did a 48 hour trip to Belgium in January and found them far less touristy than the usual cities. Went up the cable car in Namur which gives you good views over the city.

Mrs L and I love Ypres.

If you can, be at the Menin Gate for 8pm. Every evening, they have the Last Post ceremony; traffic is stopped, the nearby bars go quiet, it's very moving. Lots of WW1 history to see around there.

On the morning of May 18, will be the gathering for the 2023 Ypres Lotus day if you're interested.

The Menin Gate was also somewhere I visited recently, I was expecting only a handful of people as it was a wet evening, midweek in March but it was packed out.

I believe they are closing the arch for renovations shortly, but the nightly ceremonies will, of course, continue in the street outside.

The Belgian WW1 sites were much busier than the French ones only a few miles away, lots of British and Belgian school trips and coachloads of British OAPs. (I assume any French school trips on a WW1 theme would go to Verdun or similar, rather than the British zones around the Somme)
