You don't need anthing special for the tourist areas in either place, Dengue is a serious issue, there is little you can do to about it and it is prevalent at the moment as it has been very wet the past months, I have two mates down with it, caught on the golf course

Another frequent visitor to Thailand and occasional to Bali - never had any injections.
I did get Dengue on my last visit to Thailand and was hospitalised with it, but it was just one of them things - I think it was caught while lying by the pool at the villa - there was lots of building work with new villas going up around ours and lots of standing water.
