Thought this would be easy smile

My wife and I off for a few days starting 11th September so decided to grab some sun.

4 nights AI or full/half board, private beach if possible, max. 2.5hrs flight (Canaries, Greece too far), £800 max budget (ish) for both, short transfer (less than 90 mins if possible), don't want to spend too long travelling.

Suggestions for both locations and specific resorts welcome.

Cheers

Lagos in the Algarve or anywhere in the Algarve is beautiful and good value for money.

Anyone else looking forward to the OP coming back in September to complain about how Nigeria isn't a 2.5 hour flight at all? hehe

Malta will be sunny and warm this time of year, think the flight is about 3 hours but it's not a big island so the transfer won't be long ti any of it.
Can't comment on specific resorts as we go for city breaks.

I would add Albania to the list if you are willing to up the flight time to 3 hours.

This place has rooms from £245 for the dates you have given. 5 star, private beach etc http://palacehotel.al/about-the-hotel/

Flights from £150pp and transfer is around 45 mins. Not half board or AI but no need out there, £10 should get you breakfast, lunch, coffee and a beer or 2 if you aren't choosing extravagant restaurants smile

Vlore looks to be nicer than Durres but I suspect that would be more like 2 hours from the airport.

Have you been there yourself? I've been looking at Albania but seems a pain the arse to get there. Durres looked pretty crap and the beach wasn't very nice. The nicer places of Albania down the south you need to fly to Crete and Catch a ferry. Seems a ballache

Only to Tirana but we are looking at Durres & Berat in October. Vlore looks much nicer but is probably too quiet for the group I'm going with.
The beach doesn't look all that and Durres is a large resort town so not the prettiest overall but it looks to have a pleasant old town area.

If I was you I would fly into Tirana and get a local bus to Vlore, should take 2 hours and cost around £5 or a taxi for about £30.

Flying into Corfu is an option but I would only consider that for Sarande and that general area.

For this kind of thing I think TUI are hard to beat. Look on the website...you can filter most of your requirements. I did a quick shifty...there's 3* AI in Majorca £340 each, 4* HB in Andalucia £390, 4* HB in Majorca £395 etc, etc for the date you're looking at, out of Gatwick.

Not sure I'd fancy Albania for a few days sun getaway with my wife. Play it safe and head to Spain / Balearics

Cheers Ezra, Gatwick is 3 hrs away but would be ok if hotel was what we were looking for.

Croatia- still decent weather in sept but not many tourists. One of the best times of the year to visit
