Car hire Cape Town
Discussion
Holiday autos is who I've used before. Also who are you flying with??? British Airways has a tie in with Avis/Budget. Free second driver with Avis and there prices are pretty good too. Take out the extra excess waiver insurance, quite a few smash and grabs going on again at traffic lights.. enjoy Capetown, if you can get away from the family I can recommend Maverick's gentleman's retreat 😂😂😂
I normally use arguscarhire clicking through from quidco although for the 3 trips this year have just gone straight to Avis. Their downtown office was bloody chaos first thing in the morning last time I was there, everyone pitching up from the cruise ships and being a bloody nuisance. The airport normally has a big queue but it moves very quickly.
Holiday Autos and Argus are the same company, and brokers, so that's not really going to help vs booking with any other broker. The important part is the end supplier.
I recommend Europcar in South Africa. Their franchisee is a dominant local brand (Tempest) and they're well organised and well run.

I did wonder who they were when they kept popping up during my searches.I recommend Europcar in South Africa. Their franchisee is a dominant local brand (Tempest) and they're well organised and well run.
I always go with Holiday Autos, then look at all the main players.
All the Car Hire places are just across the forecourt from the main terminal, there is a free shuttle on a golf type trolley if you have loads of luggage or trouble walking
The roads around Cape Town are good, unless you want/need the space you won't need a 4×4
Last rental was with Hertz, 1 before that but both via Argus Car Hire.
It's nice to fill a car up for £40

Now home after the trip, would have no issues with using Tempest again.
Driving was no hassle and did a few hundred miles out of Cape Town.
Filling with petrol was great as one attendant fills up, another checks the tyres another cleans the windows.
I have had my quota of fillet steaks for a good while.
