Evening all, im taking my wife off to NYC this Friday, BA have left it till this evening to inform me that I need to fill in yet another online form for the covid test results. I thought this st was behind us but obviously not. My issues is I filled out the form I couldn't scan her NHS covid travel pass as the BA app wouldn't let me. I screen shot hers like I did mine but hers hasn't gone through, mine went through straight away she's received an email digital boarding with a tracking number but nothing else.. She's had all 4 jabs and they are ones recognised by the app.. Am I worrying too much or will it be fine???? I booked this flight a week ago and they start this nonsense 2 days before the flight.. Oh call them up you say.. nope the 24/7 line is not open and the only live chat I can find is to American Airlines. Anyone else had this issue??

Yep. The systems are rubbish. Just check in at the desk and show your paper or electronic certificate. I’ve done a lot of travel in the last 18 months and have had several pre-scanning issues, the last of which was a trip to LA last month. It’s hit and miss with BA at the moment. Sometimes the systems accept it; sometimes they don’t. I’m expecting the same old problems when I fly back to LA in a week or so. Don’t stress. They’ve got much more chilled at the desks since last summer IMO.

ETA - they won’t be asking for test results; only proof of vaccination.

Cheers for the speedy response.. I received an email from them at 3am saying they didn't accept screen shots of the qr code... Nice considering the camera scanner doesn't work.. I retried just now and my wife is now also coming to Americasmile

Even when they were being much stricter earlier last year (when you needed negative tests etc), they were happily manually checking certificates of people who hadn't used the app as requested.

I'm surprised they said that the screenshot is no good, as that's what I've used several times as it is easier than finding a printer or second screen to display to 'photo' the QR code.

Is this a US only thing?

I flew Aus to UK and back via Dubai over Christmas / New Year and nobody asked for any proof of anything. I thought all that nonsense was long gone.

Yes, you still need proof of vaccine (or other paperwork for refuseniks) for entry to the USA.

I've flown to the US about 3 or 4 times recently, going again on Sunday - never works, just get a boarding pass at the terminal, never an issue.

Have the same with Qantas to Singapore - oddly not Qatar Airlines.

This. I fly to the States a lot and find the terminal staff a lot easier than any of the online systems. At times I’m sure it was easier to fly in the middle of the pandemic rather than all of these wishy washy rules.

Last April when testing was mandatory before travelling to the USA, we were on edge for weeks before we flew out to Florida. Needn’t have worried. The online video call doing the test took about two minutes and they didn’t even visually check our results, just asked us to say what the results were. At the airport (Gatwick) not one member of staff at any occasion asked for or checked our vaccination status or pre flight covid results. If they didn’t care then they probably don’t now.

I hope the OP got his flight OK - i've just rechecked as I am flying again tomorrow - Covid docs all updated OK, tracking confirmation has them as verified - booking system still borked and won't allow me to check in - hey ho back to the usual at the desk, I am sure they'll express surprise yet again.

Hey. We made it, although we nearly didn't. I'd left a knife in my carry on and security picked it out . A quick half hour chat with two police officer and I was sent back to my wife to apologize to her for the stress I'd caused her...woops .The esta wasn't asked for, neither was the CDC covid vacation form either end.

I’ve never had a problem using it.
Last time was 2 weeks ago and I’ve used it loads.

All very odd

I think random rather than odd. Although not as random as trying to get a knife onto a plane...

Same every time, issues straight away at an autokiosk or if I ask at a counter. Never online. All docs there, and uploaded travelling on my own with Global Entry and TSApre on top of an ESTA (obviously) and jabbed up to the eyeballs to make sure that doesn't create an issue anywhere so not an issue with the docs.

Frustrating but ths morning it was a 20 second exercise to right.

Tell me about it - yesterday colleagues and I had a connection at JFK - landed from LHR at 3:30pm, flight out departing 6pm. I breezed through from plane to lounge at JFK (so through immigration and back through security for those who haven't done so in that airport) in 15 mins - meant I could call home, Mum (Mothers Day), get something to eat and generally stretch my legs / relax after the flight over.

I met my colleagues when they were finally heading to the gate - they made it but with no time to spare, immigration and particularly security took an age.
