Me and the Mrs went to Quartiera/algarve/faro last year and it was sensational, I had an amazing time.

I really want to go back but at the same time I’d also like to explore a different country but it’s very tough because whatever website I use, It just shows me the same generic destinations. Worst part being, none of them are near any beaches despite me selecting ‘beach holiday’.

I’ve resorted to looking at google maps of places like Sicily and googling the towns looking for hotels.

Sicily for the most part doesn’t actually seem that nice, loads of beaches were covered in litter and apparently smell like sewage according to the reviews of the places I saw.

Anyways that’s another story.

Can anybody reccomend a beach holiday destination that isn’t ludicrously expensive like the Amalfi coast. I’m tired of trying every holiday website and studying maps.

We love the beach and seafood

Thanks in advance

I had a similar opinion when visiting Sicily.

As much as a I don't want to go to Majorca, I always think back to how nice the beach was and warm (almost hot) the water was at S'Arenal. Well the beach between Palma and S'Arenal. Apart from the old man who died on the beach, but that's a different story.

Dammed sand gets everywhere, so my wife is not a fan of beach holidays. However we both agree that if a beach holiday is what you wan, then you cannot go wrong in Greece, especially the smaller islands.

And for 2-weeks, the food and people add to making an excellent relaxing holiday.

We had the same last year, i hate looking for holidays.

we went here:

https://www.therosallsuitehotel.com/

nice hotel, great pool and food, not rammed. next to the beach, nice beach bar/club thing 2 mins walk, can walk into kos which is a bit chavvy but not horrendous just stay away from the street with all the bars.

Don't know about hotels but one of my favourite places is Peniscola in Spain which has two beaches, a castle, sea food.

The downside is it's a long drive (mainly motorways) from Barcelona or Alicante airports but you can fly to Reus on a Tuesday with TUI which shortens the drive.

Other Spanish possibilities are Gandia and Mojacar.

Majorca is also nice, plenty of beaches there.

One of my best holidays was to Rhodes. We stayed at a place about 20 minutes walk from the main town. It was brilliant and I'm tempted every year to return

We've just booked Sicily in July, flying to Palermo, driving down to Taormina for a few days then up to a little town called Balestrate to spend a week or so on the beach. Got a nice apartment with a pool as well.

Spent two weeks in Sardinia last year, that was amazing, best beaches i've ever seen, lovely little town we stayed in, fantastic island to explore, would highly recommend it.

Sardinia is a good call, beaches amazing, lots of seafood. I'd also add mallorca/minorca to that.

Though none of which are particularly cheap.

Seconded, We went there in 2019 and had a fabulous time.

Lovely white sand beaches. Hire a car and you can get some really picturesque secluded bays, crystal clear water, lovely.

Lefkada in the Ionian, Greece?

Beautiful beaches. Great food. Stunning scenery.

Depending on the time of year you want to go, can also be very quiet.

Have a villa available to rent if you are interested.....

Ibiza has good beaches. Stay in the North and you're in a different world to the likes of San An and Ibiza town. Ibiza town itself is nice though. Otherwise, Greece, as already recommended. I'd also throw in Portugal, the water isn't so warm on the Atlantic coast, but the beaches are nice especially on the Algarve.

EDIT - Or something really left field, the West coast of Scotland has, without doubt, some of the best beaches in the world. Yes it's cold, and there are midges during summer, but there are few places with more stunning scenery. If you want something warmer, then Cornwall has some great beaches too.

If you loved Quarteira, in my opinion anywhere should be an improvement as I couldn't wait to escape but of course we all have different expectations, I've just got back from lanzarote which i love but others don't, Kefalonia is a fantastic place probably our favourite Greek Isle.

Croatia?

You'd also benefit from speaking to your local travel agency. They will have been to many places that fit your criteria.

Maybe just go west. Lagos, Praia da Luz, Sagres, Burgau. Lagos has over a dozen beaches, all different, and the west is generally quieter than central Algarve.
