Interesting days out
Discussion
I am looking for interesting things to look at for a day out with an old mate, his Dad and my Dad later in the Spring. A few requirements:
1) He's in N Yorks and I'm in S London, so it needs to be somewhere mutually (in)convenient for us both to drive to. A line roughly from Lincs, maybe over towards Brum. No closer to London than Bedfordshire.
2) Some kind of technical interest, but - controversial I know - probably not old cars. His Dad is an electrical engineer and great tinkerer but not into cars so much. Industrial history/machinery/tech kind of thing.
We have already done Bletchley Park, and several visits to Old Warden (the latter one of my favourite summer days out) but fancy a change.
Any suggestions welcome!

M1 or M6 side of North Yorks?
If M6 side try RAF Cosford, https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/midlands/, bit out of the way but worth the visit, and free to enter. Or M1 side The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/ Both stand out in my mind as places I remember well.

Duxford is good, a lot of planes to look at and quite a bit of variety. Convenient to drive to as it's just off the M11.

This would be my suggestion, if it's inconvenient enough?https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford/whats-he...
Keeping to an aeronautical theme, perhaps the Newark Aviation Museum combined with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby? Newark is on the A1, the BBMF approximately 30 miles to the east.
ETA - For something a little different, the Tramway Museum at Crich, Derbyshire. It re-opens in early March.

Ironbridge is very interesting Blists Hill Victorian village, some of it still working, various museums linked to heavy engineering and ceramics all in dramatic scenery with a variety of good pubs.1) He's in N Yorks and I'm in S London, so it needs to be somewhere mutually (in)convenient for us both to drive to.
