First I will say I don’t want to stay in Branford! Ha

Next Friday I am taking my car for a service in Bradford (supplying dealer) I am from Stoke. So me and the Mrs said may as well make a night out of it and stay somewhere.

I really don’t know where to go. Blackpool/ Southport on the west coast but not the nicest place go with the Mrs! I thought maybe Whitby on the east coast I went as a kid with school but can’t remember much about it.

Go up to the Lake District but I have never been and have no idea where to go, what to do!

I would like good parking at the hotel as we will be in the Lotus and a decent meal at night is always good. The Mrs doesn’t drink so no pub crawls for us.

Thanks for any help I know it’s a bit vague!

If you don't want to go too far from Bradford, and you like good food try The Shibden Mill Inn on the outskirts of Halifax:
https://shibdenmillinn.com/
Next day a trip to Piece Hall, Haworth, Hebden Bridge and a nice run home.

I don’t really mind how far from Bradford I go within reason really. Just thought with me being so far away from home should make the effort to see somewhere new. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

If the weather is good and you are in a Lotus I would also look at going into The Dales.
Loads of hotels and B&Bs up there. Start at Skipton and work up.

All those places you have mentioned are too far away, you would spend nearly all the time travelling there and back, plus you would not give them justice just spending a couple of hours there.

Whitby is lovely for the day, but much too far away, it's very busy any time of year.

Harrogate is nice (In the Summer) some nice shops, but that's about all, Betty's tea room for a treat.

Fountains Abbey is lovely (Free for NT members),,,, the garden walk through Studley Royal is lovely.

I would plump for Haworth, a charming cobbled street with some interesting shops, and if time allows you could have a trip on the Keighley and Worth valley steam railway.

In Halifax there is the Piece Hall.......(Google it)

Brimham Rocks are interesting:- https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/yorkshire/b...

Sticking to Bradford, if you are into cameras The national photographic museum is good.

I can only think of one reason you'd make the effort to keep an original dealers stamp for service and that it's possibly a visit to JCT for Lotus?

Lots in the area. Personally I'd just have a night in Leeds but depends what sort of thing you're after.

edit...ahh yes, just clicked on your profile. I recognise the pic from the fb or wherever you posted when you picked it up smile

Grantley Hall for the night?

Weekends can be busy though so might be a bit late now.

That's a good call.

The Dev is very nice, or Red Lion at Burnsall.

The run up to Buckden is excellent, up over Fleet Moss, into Hawes then Thwaite, Keld and up over Buttertubs, across through Muker and Gunnerside to Reeth then Leyburn. Maybe a nip up to Tan house. If you are returning to the area, then over the moors via Masham, Lofthouse and Pateley Bridge.

Or if you need to head south, get to Muker and go west and up over the B6270 to Nateby and which joins the M6 at Kirkby Stephen. You'll recognise it from Top Gear etc.

Meant to add, if you like the real ale, open fire type of pub, then the Fountaine at Linton nr Grassington is worth a look. Very pretty old inn.

Or Tempest at Elslack, outside Skipton.

Same small pub co. Decent food and great beer.

Stay at Bolton Abbey, Ilkley or Grassington. Nice pubs and restaurants nearby, some Michelin, lots of great dining and beers. Of course also edge of Dales for some driving fun and wonderful scenery.

Only a few miles from Ilkley to Bradford.
