Has anyone been to Egypt recently, and is it safe/sensible to go? Would be looking to stay in Luxor for a week or so and visit the temples etc. Is there enough to do there for a week? Could maybe do a trip down to Aswan if needed.

It's been a few years since I was last in Egypt so not sure what the current situation on the ground is around Luxor.

However i have been to Luxor a couple of times. A week is fine & it will save you having to rush around. Obviously you have the usual stuff in Luxor, Karnak, Luxor temple, Valley of the kings, Hatshepsut, sound & Light show, museum. Then there are trips to Esna & Edfu. Balloon trips, boat trips. If you were really keen you could get to Elephantine Island & Aswan.

Tourists have been killed at most of those locations in the past if you are of a nervous disposition!

It's a fantastic country & if you can get your head around the age of the stuff its pretty amazing.

hehe No, not a nervous disposition, thankfully.

Good to hear there is plenty to do. Thanks.
