This is for a cruise, where they will now let you travel if you are unvaccinated but you must have Covid cover in your insurance.

Last time I cruised I used Sainsburys insurance but they demand vaccination to be covered.

Any suggestions please?

I would definitely go for a specialist insurer, like Staysure.

I have just spent an hour looking at holiday insurance. I can't see any at all with Covid cover without vaccination. Every one I read stipulated up to date with jabs.

UK cruise companies generally insist on mandatory travel insurance which includes at least £2M medical cover including emergency evacuation and expenses relating to Covid. All the insurance companies we looked at insisted on the policy holder and related party to be fully vaccinated as per Govt guidance

Yes, this. P&O now don't require you to be vaccinated to travel but do insist that you have insurance that covers covid.

This is all I could find:

I would have thought if you have the sort of underlying health issues that prevent you being vaccinated, going on a cruise wouldn’t be recommended by your doctor? Hundreds of people in a small space, definitely easy to pick up bugs from them.

I'm sure there are lots of bugs that could be picked up, but the cruise operators don't require specific medical insurance for them.

Most of the bugs likely to cause issues relate to small and manageable ailments; upset tummy, cold, etc. Anything major such as Legionnaires' disease tend to result from failures in the H&S process and thus covered by the cruise company's insurance.

What Wisbech is saying is that with Covid vaccinations, it's self-selecting. The majority of conditions that would render an individual unsuitable for a Covid vaccination are such that it's unlikely that they'd place themselves in a situation where they would be at a known risk, a cruise being one such risk.

Catch Covid and the result can be a mild sore throat for a few days up to full-scale ITU admission. Any insurance company is going to want to see that you've done all you can to minimise the risk.

Rightly or wrongly, the world has changed and without a Covid vaccination, you will find diminished options when it comes to travel.

Yep, this. For example, when my wife was undergoing cancer treatment, so vulnerable, she wouldn’t have been advised to get the vaccination, nor to go on a cruise.
