Hi all.
Anyone done the hot air ballooning at Cappadocia in Turkey?
How did you get there?
Looking like 10 hours bus from Marmaris, and 7 hours from Antalya?

Best option is to fly to Istanbul and then to one of the two local airports. Is on my to do list and would 100% do the balloon trip.

My wife & sister did this in 2019 - bus from Marmaris! Said they'd fly if they did it again. But both said it was a wonderful experience and said that it was brilliant steersmanship for them to land the balloon on the back of the support truck at the end of the flight!

My parents did the same.
But the balloon drifted and had to be crash-landed. All of them were injured, two very seriously.
As if that were not enough, the team did everything to cover up and deny the incident.

Not the best time to be flying a balloon.

UK to Istanbul (Turkish Airlines are the nads, best I have flown with) then Istanbul to Ankara by plane. Then 3hrs minibus up to Goreme.

Went for a dawn / morning flight. Two of the party of six getting "kebab botty" - i.e. virulent diarrhea whilst in a balloon on a 30C day in shorts is not good.

The balloners were obviously not surprised by this, they had water, a squeegee mop and a hole in one corner of the basket to brush the fluids out of. Only a couple of days later did it strike me (not metaphorically) "where did that waste fluid go to.........."

Oh, and being in a hot air balloon was the most scary, least lack of control experience I have ever had in my like, even though I was in the group of four who still had bowel control.
