Loire Valley - Amboise / Souvigny-de-Touraine
Discussion
Right then - I know it’s an area well trodden & discussed, but most of what I can find is a fair few years old now. I’m sure it’s all still relevant, but never know if recent years have changed things.
We’re planning to head to the Loire for 4 nights in early May, and we’ve pinned down the Amboise / Souvigny-de-Touraine area.
Any recommendations for somewhere to stay? Ideally chateau-esque in terms of styling and a bit of land, but small enough to still have nice hosts, a good continental spread in the mornings, bonus points if a good restaurant is on-site or within a brisk walk.
Over to the knowledge of PH!

My go to for places like that is www.bienvenueauchateau.com. Basically b&b or gites in châteaux. I've stayed at quite a few over the years, although not for the last four or five years. Some are smart and pricey, some are posh but crumbling - faded aristocrats still in the house of their ancestors trying to keep it going.
