Family holiday £5k budget advice
Discussion
We are a family of 5 with kids aged 18, 14 and 11. Didn't manage to get away last summer and with my daughter being 18 now, we feel that this may be the last chance we all get away together. So we are pushing the boat out a bit (for us) and happy to spend £5k or £6k for the week.
Ive thought about all inclusive resort, but being 5 of us, hotel rooms sometimes dont work well numbers wise. Also I dont want to sit by the pool all day and like to do at least some site seeing.
We have done eurocamp holidays in the past and these suited us really well. Kids loved the big pools (sun loungers usually easy enough to get), space to roam and good value. My idea of a nice evening is sat out on a terrace/decking with a beer/wine, not shows or entertainment.
A villa holiday is one possibility, although that means self catering- unless I suppose we ate out most evenings? I was thinking that if we went to France and drive, that would save money on flights, to pay for better villa/food.
Weve done the Loire, and perhaps further down near Bourdeaux would get us guaranteed good weather. Another option ive been looking at is the Alps- perhaps near Lake Annecy. The area looks beautiful, with lake swimming etc.
I suppose my ideal would be a small collection of villas, with a pool, and some food included/available on site so we dont have to do too much shopping or washing up whilst we are there. Does anyone know anything like that?
I had been looking at this https://www.domainedecapies.com/home which seems to fit what I describe above, but its fully booked.
Thanks in advance

all-inclusive to north africa in one of those waterpark resorts. Live in 5* luxury, all the pool and sunlounger you can take, then a couple of day trips as a family to some culture like the pyramids or whatever to pretend you all get along, then back so the miserable teens can shyly ogle other teens but not ask any of them out, and your 18yr old can practice getting drunk before uni starts

Does your 18 year old actually want to go away with you? I know when I was that age I wanted to go away with my mates not my family. If she doesnt then that might change what you end up doing.
She does, but we can see that coming to an end, hence wanting to do something a bit nicer than we have so far. That will also encourage her to come with us- she had said she didn't want to go to another eurocamp for instance, as it 'is for little kids'. Mind you, she went to a hotel in greece with her boyfriends family and I dont think she liekd it as much as she thought she would, and even suggested going to eurocamp!its tricky trying to find something to make both an 11 yr old boy and 18 yr old girl happy.

Not sure where you are in the UK but Annecy is 500+ miles from Calais so two solid days driving out of a 7 day holiday.
It's not too bad, get the train and drive over night. 12/14 hours door to door depending where you start in the UK. covmutley said:

We did it in a day, took about 7 hours with a few stops.
Yep, it is. Very easy to mantain 80mph on the french autoroutes, add a couple of stops for fuel and a pee, and 7 hours is easily do able.Annecy is a great place to visit. We went there twice when staying at a mates chalet in La Plagne during August 2020 for a week.
