Travelling Backpack
Discussion
Looking for a new backpack to take whilst travelling.
This would be in addition to a case so not your hiking type. More to free up some space so that the wife has more lol.
Was thinking around 30-40 litres capacity so that it could take some clothes along with the usual travel documents, books etc.
Any recommendations welcome.

Have a look on Heinnie Haynes if you’re after the EDC look.
No idea what the EDC look is. Not the above look I am going for anyway lolCurrent contenders are the following;

My 15 year old Karrimor has been around the world several times and still in good nick.
Would have no hesitation recommending the brand.

Every Day Carry.
Fancy name for 'walty'... I was going to recommend the Osprey bag I've used for years for work, but they seem to back stopped doing it with no similar replacement.
It was a 'Quantum' which has a mesh pocket on the front which is good for hats, gloves, bags for life, etc that you need to grab quickly when you get off the train/tube and its raining.
Google suggests it is 34 litres which is a good size for using as a dayback but you can still pack it full for a weekend away as carry-on luggage on a plane.

It's not everyone's taste but I'd recommend this: https://www.militarykit.com/products/mil-tec-molle...This would be in addition to a case so not your hiking type. More to free up some space so that the wife has more lol.

Any constraints on dimensions? Just thinking if you might be on a 'low fares' airline or small prop plane.
I have the 20l version which is just in size for Ryanair as hand luggage, so for my travelling needs it's been perfect but I've ended up using it almost daily.
The 36l would be really good if no size restricitions.
With the 20l when going to work it gets loaded up - we have a gym there so it will have a change of clothes in the main compartment plus all my other work stuff elsewhere. The main compartment zips right to the bttom so you can roll clothes up and pack it tight, then open it right up to get things out without emptying the whole thing.
That could be the beauty for you, keeping things seperate and not having to drag everything out each time.
I've not tried storming an embassy with it on, but it was fine for hiking in Arizona last October and everything else we've done the last couple of years.

I have been looking at these as well recently - having recently been given a pouch with a Molle system to add on to a "normal" daypack waistbelt - looking at the Molle system options it seems great for the ability to add/mix pouch types etc depending on what you are doing. In fact it is surprising normal rucksacks don't have some of these Molle fitment features given how apparently useful they could be.There seem to be plenty available like the one in the link above but the prices seem suspiciously low for something that needs to be very robust for the mixed use they would be good for (even if you don't need to crouch on a balcony ............). The shoulder straps and waist straps also look relatively lightweight compared to standard comparably sized daypacks which would worry me.
I did come across the Karrimor Predator SF30 which seems to combine the best of both worlds however.
