Morning all.
I have a week off between jobs in the middle of March and thought I would treat myself and the wife to a week away, carribean seems like the place top of the list at the moment.
Not sure which Island at the moment so looking for suggestions for around £4-5k. I've been to Cuba and St Lucia previously. Looking for a smallish hotel on the beach with a bit of character.

Any suggestions welcome!

You lucky fella!

Have a look at any of the Couples resorts in Jamaica. My wife and I have been to Couples Sans Souci in St Annes (Ocho Rios) six times and love it. Couples only (NOT a 'swingers' hotel BTW!), very romantic atmosphere, no ankle biters, good food in the three restaurants, three pools, lots of lush acreage, no access to beaches by other than guests of the hotel (therefore no vendors bothering you!), free transfers, only 150 rooms in 5 or 6 traditional blocks that have all been recently refurbished, lovely staff and free water sports. Another bonus is that tipping is not allowed so you wont need to carry dollars around with you.

Check it out!

Edited to add:- Check out prices with Kenwood Travel. Caribbean specialists and UK agents for Couples Hotels group

Have a look at The Calabash Hotel, Grenada. May be just the place you are looking for.

Looks fantastic, I probably should have specified £5k all in, not each...

Bear in mind that anywhere in the Windies is a significant distance so, although the smaller islands may seem to be ideal, by the time you get there you will have missed quite a chunk of your holiday. Flight connections, aircraft changes all add to the hassle.

Hub islands - St Lucia, jamaica, antigua, barbados etc - are well served by UK carriers and around 8 hrs flying time. Anything more esoteric will add a few more to that. Back in the day i could do LGW to TAB in 9 (and once as little as 7.5), now it's nearer 12 given the current routing.

Against anything that i would normally suggest in this region, look for a package in a well serviced island with good infrastructure, just in case. As we say - "paradise until you have to live here"

Also, keep an eye on the weather. The southern caribbean had an unusually wet wet season and, so far, the dry season has been - odd.

Sandals have a sale on at the moment , they’re a bit bigger hotel than your looking for but they aren’t that bad price wise . There’s usually somewhere quiet on the resort , the Americans are usually in bed by 8
