What a con ! I’ve come here for 10 days of sun and relaxation and it’s raining !!
Got some shopping etc to do but anyone recommend anything leftfield for me and the Mrs to do ? I fancy hitting one of the neighbourhoods where the migrant workers live, eat some decent Street food, go to second hand shops etc - any ideas ?
If not, no worries - it’s just a rant . . It’s bloody raining !!!! Ahhh

Ravi’s is a cracking “local” street food restaurant at local prices. We eat there quite a bit. It’s behind sheik zayed road up and across from Trade centre and McGs pub.
My made stayed in the Sheraton there for a few years and we used to go in quite a bit. Really cheap and cheerful.

Don’t eat in the new South American restaurant in Atlantis on the palm. Me and the missus both got food poisoning and ruined our last 2 days of holiday a fortnight ago.

Go to Al Karama and gaze at all the counterfeit goods on sale - even if you don't buy anything, the levels of creativity and criminality is fascinating. Think getting taken in some random persons car to a 'showroom' which is behind a secret doorway disguised as a mirror in some random apartment block. Once you get in, some of the places look like full on department stores biglaugh

Yes I went there about 10 years ago - surreal ! I think we are heading there to have a look round - is there much else to do round there ? Restaurants etc etc away from the typical glitz and glamour of Dubai ?

One of the Ravis is/was nearby but it looks like it's not there or moved or further than I remember. Used to get dragged around the shops by my wife and rewarded with a curry afterwards biggrin

Is he the Italian employee who has an F12? I was there on Saturday and he was very kind and welcoming to us all. A nice range of cars downstairs too.
