Just heads up for anyone travelling via the UK's worst airport....

They've begun to test hand luggage liquids in these machines. I travel regularly and the first time I've seen them.

All my toiletries are properly packed and to the correct size yet last week, these machines determined that a half full bottle of Tom Ford, an unopened tube of toothpaste and one small bottle of vape fluid was not acceptable (two other identical vape fluids were fine.)

There was some poor lass trying to explain that she needed the two bottles of formula milk that had not passed the test for her baby.

Nobody could explain why - just a case of 'machine says no'.

This sounds ominous - as an ex-smoker, I always travel with at least a couple of small bottles of vape liquid. Anything special about the bottles? Size, labeling? Not that I use Luton, or any other UK airport, but who knows where this might spread to...

Never had/seen any issues with the "leave it in your bag" machines at Geneva airport. And the machine's just meant to identify suspicious/questionable items, then are then meant to be checked by a human being and the human being is meant to make the call.

But you DID say Luton...

Nope. Bought a 10 pack of 10ml juices the day before and took three with me. They just put each bottle (and tubs and tubes) into this machine and a green or red light comes on to determine if it's acceptable. I have no idea what they're looking for and I'm not entirely certain the security staff do, either.
