We have a load of flight vouchers left from Covid cancellations - does anyone know if BA will refund against them? We were planning a New England trip but it's just not affordable right now given the exchange rate. Don't really want to waste them on going somewhere we don't really want to go, if you see what I mean!

No cash equivalent, so no refund per se.

However they do last a long time. Maybe you don't have any trips planned now but have a look at the expiry date -- i think they set them all for Sept 2023 , so you might be able to travel next year etc.

Don’t bother with New England. Maine is a st heap of a place. Vermont and New Hampshire are ok but most of it is shut. Connecticut is ok, but well, ho hum. Rhode Island/Cape Cod is like a dull version of out of season Cornwall with much stter beaches.
Oh and if you are English then Boston hates you just because they can make some money out of it and Mass hates you just because.
The single most disappointing holiday I’ve been on after wanting to visit for years. No seriously, go anywhere else but New England.

I've got some evouchers for Covid cancellations which are valid until the end of September 2023. In the emails about them, there was the link below that I can use to apply for a refund.

Thanks for this link. I have a BA e voucher that fits all the refund conditions, but the e mail that came with it makes no reference to a refund. So, I have used the link that you have provided, and it's all gone through to BA. Their auto e mail response indicates I should get a full response in 7 days. I will report back once I have heard from BA.

My vouchers were originally taken instead of refunds, but I had emails in the summer saying that the eVoucher options had been updated to allow refunds. I also received reminder emails about them about a month ago.

The critical thing to check is - did the original flight operate?

I too had flights through BA, flying out to Boston with a return from NYC, in May 2020, and the country was effectively in lockdown so we cancelled our flight and received an evoucher as BA were not issuing refunds at that time.

We then received word over the summer 2022 that BA were allowing holders of evouchers to request cash refunds, so I requested it using that form. I was told, "sorry sir, that only applies if we cancelled your flight, but as those flights still operated you aren't eligible". I checked back using one of the onlight flight radar sites and sure enough my flights operated.

It's proved nigh on impossible to use the vouchers as everywhere we want to go BA have either cancelled flights or the pricing is stupidly expensive!

Completely out of the blue, I had an email from BA saying as I hadn’t yet used my voucher they were making a refund. It wasn’t a massive amount and I can’t remember the circumstances of the voucher, but a pleasant surprise.

Update.

BA has declined me a refund. The flight I booked did take place and as I cancelled I do not get a refund. I accept the decision. I cancelled because this was a flight to Athens and at that time getting into Greece was a serious problem with enforced isolation for several days, as I recall.

We cancelled a Maldives holiday with BA from last June under their Covid guidelines. They have just refunded our £250 voucher / old deposit. Had an e mail out of the blue and the money in a few days later.

I disagree.

Went to Boston and Bar Harbo(u)r Maine in May/June and had a great time. Maine was lovely, lots of nice walks and some excellent food and beer, met some great people. Boston, great city, met some really nice people, drank too much and ate some good grub. Not the cheapest holiday but I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

I disagree with your disagreeing.
Do you know what the first place out of Boston towards Maine is called? Swampscott or Swampville or some such godawful place. The entire place should just be carpet bombed.

Haha, I didn’t get to enjoy that delightfully named place so couldn’t comment. We went to Salem, that was alright.
