My aunt passed away a few weeks ago in a care home in Plymouth. Her late husband was from Dublin, and her and my Mum took his ashes back to his childhood church for interment.

Although my aunt didn't express a preference in her will, we think it would be best if her ashes were placed with her husband's. Mum has been liaising with one of my late uncle's relatives in Dublin about this, and she wants to make the trip over with a friend. The estate will cover the cost of the flights and 2 nights in a hotel, Mum will pay the extra hotel cost etc. to turn it into a spring holiday break.

What's the best website to use to get a cheap deal on flights (Newquay to Dublin) and a reasonable hotel in Dublin for a week?
Looking on booking.com, the day of the week can make a big difference to the cost of flights, anywhere from £85 to well over £200 per person in May. Even more expensive booking direct with Aerlingus - £250+ per person, which is taking the mickey for a 75 minute flight.

Not looked at hotels yet, but I imagine it'll be similar, with dates and who you book with making a big difference.

I'm the executor, and Mum (25%) and a relative of my late uncle (75%) are the only beneficiaries. Estate is only around £20k, and I want decent value so as not to upset the other beneficiary.

I would suggest drive to Exeter and get Aer Lingus from there.

Flights would be cheaper from Exeter or Bristol, but the taxi fares from Truro would probably cancel out any cost saving. Neither of them drive any more - old age.

260 mile round trip from my house to Exeter Airport, so £50 in fuel, plus most of a day's work lost. Wouldn't make sense financially

FWIW (because I don't do it often) I use Skyscanner for flights and booking.com or Airbnb for accommodation. Use a credit card to book it and make sure she has insurance.
