The insurer I used for multi trip travel insurance for many years , after a break due to the pandemic will now not quote me for even a single trip to France next year .
This is due to mainly historical heart problems ending with me having had heart problems and now a pacemaker , I am likely fitter than prior to having the pacemaker installed. Today I tried a company that floods channels with ads for insurance covering existing medical conditions , their quote for a single trip to France next summer £747 or £981 to include electronics , I was only paying around £250 for a multi trip policy.
ARE there any reliable insurers out there that don’t charge the earth?

I use Cover For You (underwritten by AXA). Its around £100 annual for my and wife - Gold cover Europe only. (That's with post op bowel cancer as a declared condition)

I’m having an ICD fitted next week and have previously used the common TV company - did a re-quote to see how bad it would get but only a small increase.
Annual policy went up by about £100 - not covering America.

I've always found AllClear reasonably priced - I have several medical conditions to declare and they've always been pretty competitive.

Off topic - If you have any questions about having your ICD, please let me know. I'm due to have mine replaced in the next six months after almost ten years of service.

On topic...

As for insurance, have a look at the British Heart Foundation website and the forums. Also have a look at the Arrhythmia Alliance website and forums (which are hosted on "Health Unlocked" or "Team Inspire". There are so good support groups on Facebook where you could get recommendations.

Thanks Colin.
I’m bumbling along in the Heart Attack thread about what’s happening with me. I might PM you though - I have a couple of questions.

I am a ticker issues traveller too.

Also have an ICD - fired once!

I got an acceptable quote from Staysure.

My existing insurer (no claims for years) refused annual cover once they knew my gizmo had fired. Happy to quote for (expensive) single trip cover though.

Please do let me know how the replacement surgery goes Colin. Mine has about 18 months to go.

Have you tried Staysure ? My wife and I, over 70, with a list of health issues had multi trip cover.

Will do.

I've just posted a monster post in the heart attack thread Pidsy made me aware of.

I've got a cardio CT tomorrow and hopefully an ICD read. Last one I had back in June was showing 6 months so it is close to the wire and I'm also paced 100% eek

As OP I forgot to add , what also makes the insurers shy away is a rare blood condition akin to leukaemia but well under control , and BCC lesions on my scalp being treated by excision and skin grafts .
Given the cost and exclusions , we have abandoned the idea of a trip to France , and have booked a UK Caravan Club site near Truro , what is noticeable though is the rapidly decreasing of availability of decent sites in the UK .
