Cheap hotel near St Pancras
Discussion
I have to catch a 10.30am Eurostar from St Pancras and will have to travel up to London the previous day. Consequently I need somewhere, preferably within walking distance of the station (20 mins or so), to stay the night.
Hoping for something clean and safe, own bathroom and under £100 - does such a place exist?

i'm familiar with most of the st hotels near Kings Cross, but you'd struggle to get any of them for under £100 night midweek these days.
Point A is the one to aim for, but i'd expect that to be more than double. It was cheap when it was the Tune hotel, then for a good bit after the refurbishment when it became the Point A.. not so much now.
So King's Cross hotel was probably the next least st, then Arriva, then Swinton.
House of Toby was usually a good bit more expensive. KX Rooms looks new and cheap, but i'm not familiar with it.

London hotels are insane these days.
Many reasons - lots of tourists taking advantage of the exchange rate, recovering pandemic losses, and some of the cheaper ones a little further out are being used to house asylum seekers and Afghan Refugees, taking capacity out of the system.
I reckon my business travel costs are up a third to a half vs pre pandemic.

Not just London costs, reckon I've seen business hotel costs up 50% last couple years Many reasons - lots of tourists taking advantage of the exchange rate, recovering pandemic losses, and some of the cheaper ones a little further out are being used to house asylum seekers and Afghan Refugees, taking capacity out of the system.

When do you need it for? Premier Inn at St Pancras is £81.50 for a random Wednesday night in January. Equally if you need this week, the Hub at Kings X is £200.
Booking in advance is making a big difference here.

Have stayed in both the hub and "full monty" Premier Inns around Kings X and the price varies immensely depending on when you book
They are both perfectly decent BTW and when spending my own money would struggle to justify going elsewhere
Cheers

Thanks for the tips. The trip is early next year and midweek. Premier Inn Hub is coming in on budget and Point A is pretty close so looks like it'll be one of them.
If that is the choice then no contest book the hubIf you're willing to walk 20min I'm guessing you're not weighed down with bags, in which case worth expanding your search a few tube stops from Kings Cross. Easy enough to navigate with '20min walk' baggage and opens up more options for hotels and might put you in a slightly nicer place to spend the evening before.
Take care with Premier Inns pricing as I think it must be dynamic. I recently was booking a Sunday night in South London. My daughter was on line looking at the same hotels at the same time anc the prices varied significantly. Clear your browser history or hide your identity and you will see better prices

It’s true, I booked the Premier Inn in Whitley Bay a few weeks ago for £100, checked a week or two later and it dropped to £90.Redarress said:

All of the hotel chains work like that Is the Premier Inn St Pancras okay (the one almost opposite the station). It gets good reviews on TripAdvisor.
I want someplace close to the station for 3 nights (arriving on Eurostar and then hiring a car so want to minimise the amount of buggering about with luggage).
Plan is it is just someplace to sleep and we’ll use the 2 days to see a bit of London.
