Hi all,

Just been informed of probable train strikes on 26th and 27th Nov and have trains to and from London those days. Anyone know of a tube station, with parking that I could travel to instead? I am in the West Country, so anywhere along M3 or M4 would be ideal. Would need to leave the car there overnight too.

Many thanks for the help.

Heathrow? Parking and a tube station, plus buses if all else fails. It depends where you want to end up in London.

There's a car park at Richmond station you can book online. Distrct line from there.

Thanks. Richmond and Heathrow were my first thoughts too. Richmond will probably be easiest I guess. Do I have to book parking, or just turn up?

I think the Elizabeth Line (operated by TfL) will be running even when the strike is affecting other train operating companies.

Some info here: https://www.timeout.com/london/news/london-train-a...

The westernmost station on the Elizabeth Line is Reading going into Paddington.

It might be another option?

Reading will be excellent. Didnt know there was a tube station there. Plenty of parking too. Could be a winner.

Had a look, looks good, times okay too. Does anyone know if you park in the normal train station car park? If so I have been there before .

Go a couple stops East like twyford, Maidenhead, or taplow and you can Street park near the stations.

There is no tube station, just the normal surface trains operating from the railway station but run by TfL.

Just looked it up and it seems like you can pre-book in the station car park for around £12 a day. The cost seems to vary depending on the exact arrival and departure times.

Please don't do this as it's a major pain in the arse for residents living close to the station who have to endure the thoughtless behaviour of commuters taking limited on street parking on a regular basis.

Not going to be doing that. Parking overnight, so much rather be in a controlled car park.

Is the Elizabeth line just overland then from reading? Not that this is a problem, as long as they don't strike too..

I'm catching the train to London on 4/12. Always drive and leave the car , or, catch a coach, but this time thought, let's use the train! Bought a rail card too. Now I have no idea if that'll still be ok. Never again will I use train willingly in this country. Idiots cutting off their own noses.

I would think that all the roads around those stations are permit holders only for quite some distance. (If not they should be)

Exactly how I feel. Left me little time to plan. Busses all booked, so no luck there. Only hope is the tube. Can't afford to park in London...and don't want to either.

Re Elizabeth line to Reading, maybe just check the station and line are open? if the station staff are on strike, or signallers on shared track, it may be the Elizabeth line trains won't go that far out on strike days?

If you go from Reading I’d recommend parking at kings meadow, cheaper and only a 5 min walk
