In the last 10 minutes we have made a bit of a snap decision to look at Florida at Easter. Is it possible so soon ?

I won’t be driving over there so it will be bus and taxi this is 100% no matter how it will be limiting so no point in discussing lol !

Advice welcome will update later with possible budget etc.

Cheers

Definitely not too soon, you could go tomorrow if you want. Skyscanner shows 10:10 Heathrow to Orlando tomorrow. Flights are daily I think so you can plan it when you like.

I stayed inside the Disney resort due to not wanting to drive. The whole experience was superb as Disney has its own fleet of coach's which take you from your hotel to all the different resorts and back. Also the front desk can arrange a private minibus to seaworld etc. I stayed at one of the economy resorts, all star music. If you have a bigger budget the Grand Floridian looked amazing. Have a great time.

ESTA required - https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
Do not use other sites to apply and if you have any dubious history it may not be possible to get. If works it is near instant for adults a day or so for kids, but it can take longer.

If you don't want to book things separately it would need to be a package - that's up to you though, some benefits of doing it as a package in protection for cancellations but you may pay more.

These days with the arrival of apps like Uber and Lyft, it is easy to summon someone to pick you up from random places without the hassle of trying to flag down a taxi or find the phone number of a local firm etc.

With the costs of rental cars currently if might even be cheaper!

all depends on where you are stopping and what you are planning.

I stopped in Cabana Bay, free shuttles to universal, uber to disney was $25 dollars at peak time, $8 to the premium mall on international drive.

book ESTA's for you all and park your car on the T2 west multistory.

We flew from dsa earlier this year. Traffic is very busy and I understand Uber etc often expensive at the moment.

Most hotels offer bus services to the parks one or twice a day.

Tui fly into Melbourne a peach of an airport with a 60-90 minute transfer time on busses. DSA on steroids.

Personally I’d want a car over there, but we are all different.

Invaluable website, used it extensively to plan our Orlando trip in 2018 and picked up loads to time & money saving tips.

I think you will find that Easter is just about the busiest time at Disney, so factor that into your thinking,

Also, flights and so on will also be significantly more expensive than other times of the year.

It is possible, it will be expensive. Flights and hotels are expensive at the moment, and prices appear higher now that they were even just 6 months ago - the £-$ exchange rate is crap.

I'm going next April for 2 weeks - if it wasnt that it's for a family wedding there's no way I'd be going next year!

However, money may be no object to you smile

Sorry, that comment didn't read as intended.

I've been to Florida 10+ times and have enjoyed every visit, I just wanted to highlight that its a very expensive time to be thinking about going.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy the trip thumbup

I understood the point - when your read TheDibb, there's people who fly there Upper and stay in the Grand Floridian and are happy to spend £20K plus.

You can go on a budget (although it'll need to be a signficiantly bigger budget than in the past) but you won't enjoy it if you get annoyed by how much everything costs, or restaurant servers helpfully suggesting an 18% tip.

Enforced 20% service charge at ford's garage restaurant now + tip expected at the afore mention 18%. Seems others are doing the enforced service charge too
