Ideal backpack for a road trip
Discussion
I'm looking to buy a back pack for a road trip lasting about a week ,it would need to be able to carry approximately at least 2 pairs of jeans, towel, about 3-4 tshirts ,2 pairs of shorts and toiletries
any idea where I can get a decent one,I tried Argos, Sports Direct and Trespass but they only had smaller ones

Even a small one should fit those items in surely?
Road trip so assume you'll be in a car? If so, and the comfort and practicality of carrying your bag on your person is secondary, then extend your search to holdalls or even small suitcases.
TKMaxx, John Lewis, Amazon, Blacks, North Face etc so many places sell bags. I guess you need to define 'decent' if you want more targeted recommendations.

My son has backpacked across several countries this summer with one of these, and he was very happy with it. Well made and some good features.

Road trip on this occasion but also for short business trips (trains and an occasional flight) later on,the backpack I had was a good one but wore out after using it for almost 10+ yearsRoad trip so assume you'll be in a car? Berghaus, something around 30L
I’ve had a Vercors 25L for over 16 years (sadly not made any more) some of the lining as started to flake and a couple of clips have been replaced but from the outside it looks mint. Used as a daily bag, carry on luggage and everything else between (even going up a mountain or two) The external side pockets, net and top cover compartment really helps.
The Arrow looks about the nearest thing now.

I have recently bought one of these: https://rab.equipment/uk/expedition-kitbag-50
A Rab 50 litre holdall that matches the airline carry on dimensions - a lot of similar holdall/duffels are cylindrical so don't 'fit' - which you might also find useful.
It has backback straps and normal handles.
Only downside is no external pockets.
