'Passion for Cruises'
Discussion
A friend of mine keeps banging on about this outfit and how cheap/good they are. 7 day cruise to Norway for £350 or whatever; I can't help thinking the cabins are under the propeller shaft and food is extra.... Has anyone here used them or is it basically Butlins-on-Sea?
I do like cruising, having been on a couple of P&O cruises, but like a certain standard...!

They're just a travel agent who proactively seeks out good deals for solo passengers.
I've met loads of fellow solo travellers who rate them very highly.
They do P&O cruises as well as I've met solo parties on them, easily recognisable as "Passion for cruises" customers by the wristband they wear (sent out when you first book)

Sounds like an MSC cruise. I do like cruising, having been on a couple of P&O cruises, but like a certain standard...!
Cheap cruises are often cheap for a reason and can be an expensive mistake.
What did you like about P&O and I’m happy to tell you if you’re likely to get anything like that on MSC…

There's plenty of P&O cruises on offer at £50 per person, per night.I do like cruising, having been on a couple of P&O cruises, but like a certain standard...!
Here's just one for example

On Iona, one of the newer boats, and Gary Barlow is onboard as a special guest entertainer.

I assume Passion for Cruises are just an agent a bit like Iglu?

I liked the fact it was generally classy, and there was something for all tastes. So the Jane McDonald types can sing songs round the pool while civilised people do something different elsewhere. Cabin service was excellent and we paid extra to use a decent restaurant rather than the service station buffet.Cheap cruises are often cheap for a reason and can be an expensive mistake.

I know PFC are just a broker, but they seem at the cheap end, and the photos I see from their customers on Facebook look a bit like a coach party at sea. Not sure I want to sit with a load of gossipy 70 year olds. I don't want just a cheap deal, I want a good deal on a decent cabin with decent options - my concern is that bargain bucket tickets will either give you a cheap experience, and/or anything nice will be extra.
One question. P&O sell tickets direct - would they offer the same deals? Once I booked direct and once I used Planet Cruise.

Thanks, I'll take a look. One act that stunned me on Ventura was the Headliners, a brilliant theatre act. Again, not the sort of thing you'd bother with on dry land, but on the ship, amazing. Three different shows in a week! Here's just one for example

It's most likely I'd be going with a friend, so not exactly solo but two cabins.

I would never go on an MSC cruise again. Everything is chargeable but the main issue for us was the announcements which are made in about nine different languages, one after the other. Seemingly, there is never more than about 10 minutes without some sort of announcement or promotional message being broadcasted across the ship. To avoid this, stick with a British cruise line like Fred Olsen, P&O or Marella. Cheap cruises are often cheap for a reason and can be an expensive mistake.
