Hi all

Heading to Albufeira later on this week with a couple of mates to chill whilst eating good food and drink, maybe the odd excursion too such as bengali caves and a mountain walk to a tapas bar.

We're in an airbnb so no food provided at all.

Anyone got any recommendations for places to eat? We'll eat anything although one of us doesn't eat fish but I still want to eat some local fish.

Happy to jump in a cab to another town if there's a good recommendation.

Also, not sorted my euros out yet, is it worth waiting until I get there or I am round the corner of a Thomas exchange if not?

I agree with the previous post, there’s loads of places to eat in Albufeira, try tripadvisor to find a good one.

Likewise Vilamoura plenty of bars and restaurants on the marina but if you’re only going for a few days it might not be worth bothering. We’ve been here a few times, it was always good: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g2...

If your in to it the local surf school in Galé always seems popular. Sea might be cold this time of year though!

Albufeira old town is atmospheric and charming (or at least it was), new town is worth avoiding.

Agreed. When I went there a few years ago, if you'd eliminated everyone in new town with a tattoo, a football shirt or a fag then I'd have been on my own.

Went to Albufeira last year as a back up to a back up plan for a holiday after covid forced me to cancel 2 other trips and I have to agree. Bars upon bars catering purely to Brits there watching football and getting drunk. Couldn't go anywhere without being surrounded by fans of various PL clubs, it truly is the Benidorm of the Algarve tbh. Not going back any time soon.

We’re just back from Albufeira yesterday. We were in a villa, just a short walk from the marina. It was a lovely spot. We took a drive down through the old town and the strip. Made a point not to stop!

Any specific recommendations Daimler V8? Are these places open in January?
