Had a search but couldn’t find anything - does anyone have any thoughts on St Kitts and Nevis as a holiday destination?

My gf and I are trying to book a Caribbean getaway for early next year and St Kitts seems to be a little off the beaten track and more reasonably priced than other islands.

Are there any must see / do things? It broadly seems to be the fort, the gardens and the beach!

And I under SK is a bit more “happening” than Nevis, which is quieter - is Nevis “too” quiet or is it still well serviced with restaurants etc?

Thanks in advance!

Had a legal job in Nevis about 20 yesrs ago, and travelled there quite a bit. Nevis is lovely, but quiet. Nisbet Plantation is pretty, where Horacio Nelson got married.

There is a 4 Seasons resort hotel, which kept on getting flooded each hurricane near miss...it was built on marshy flood relief ground after brown envelopes were handed out. So book there with caution.

Beers at Sunshine's at sundown was fun, hope the beach shack has not been swept away by a storm.

Sunshine bar Nevis = Killer Bee cocktail. Probably de-natured nowadays, but when I visited about 20 years ago it involved over-proof rum and what clearly wasn’t nutmeg grated onto the top. It was a hot day, we drank three each in twenty minutes and sat on a little jetty before walking back to the Four Seasons and devouring all the the chocolate in our minibar….

I was told that the US cruise ships would drop anchor and tender their incumbent geriatrics to the beach where they’d all get blasted on Killer Bees

Thanks for the input all!

We ended up finding some cheap flights to St Lucia, so are heading there (very excited!) - but will make sure to visit SK&N in the future for a Killer Bee or two smile)

Good choice, St Lucia has a lot more going on the St K&N... although if anyone does find themselves there and want some dirty delicious chicken wings, there is a converted container to kitchen called 'Bobsy's Super Wings' which is a must visit on the island.

St Lucia is lovely, unless you want to spend time in the mud the volcano trip is a bit of an anti-climax, but in general the scenery is amazing so well worth getting out and about if you can.
