Simple Q - DO 24hr Dover-Calais cheapo ferry day tickets [for shopping/booze trips etc] still exist?
I had a quick online search and couldn't find anything -0- maybe they're called by another name?
Anyone know - if so where do I buy one?

Someone asked the same question recently and the consensus was that they weren't being sold due to the delays in the summer period, meaning you have to join the return queue as soon as you arrived.

They might re-appear now it is the off-season, although now there's customs limits again the ferry companies might be avoiding advertising 'booze cruises'.

Thanks for that - shame the daytrips were well worth it. I guessed that the summer Jams maybe the reason, though now winter season is here the ferries will be travelling MT again - shamefrown

Also worth bearing in mind that there are quite a few extra restrictions both on what you can bring back and on volumes since Brexit.

ETA - sorry - didn't read Truckosaurus' post very well smile

Don't bother with the tunnel and there comedy pricing. you can get across on p&o for £39 mon/tues or £49 for every other day. Pidou and Calais wines are doing free tickets but you need to spend the required amount which as a solo driver you'll struggle unless it was mainly expensive bottles your buying. Also supermarkets 25% off offer makes it not worth going over now really ie villa Maria Savion blanc is 7.99£ a bottle in Calais wine, or £7.50 when the 25% is on in Sainsbury's/Tesco etc.. I miss my regular trips to France/Belgium.

This is personal allowance for over 17 years old.
https://www.gov.uk/bringing-goods-into-uk-personal...

Alcohol allowance
How much you can bring depends on the type of alcohol. You can bring in:
beer - 42 litres
wine (still) - 18 litres
You can also bring in either:
spirits and other liquors over 22% alcohol - 4 litres
sparkling wine, fortified wine (for example port, sherry) and other alcoholic drinks up to 22% alcohol (not including beer or still wine) - 9 litres
You can split this last allowance, for example you could bring 4.5 litres of fortified wine and 2 litres of spirits (both half of your allowance).

Alsace or German vine we like is not sold in UK, so every time we go over we bring loads with us, within the limit for four people. Challenge is to have space in the car for it.

Day crossing deals used to start at 19 quid return and you could bring back as much wine and goodies as you drag up Dover hill flat out in second with the suspension bottoming out on every bump.

Cheers Brexiteers. Love you... frown

Depending on where you are in the country, have a look at the Newhaven to Dieppe route which is about four hours each way. They do over night crossings with enough time for a good duty free shop in Dieppe. See https://www.dfds.com/en-gb/passenger-ferries/ferry... for more info.

Last couple of weeks we have done a few.

DFDS, £55 but spend 150euro on duty free get another free day trip free (perfect).

P&O was £45 but 6 free bottles of wine.

Euro tunnel on Black Friday was £69 day return.. but I can get further on the tunnel.. wink

I must admit the DFDS offering was very good and completely filled the car with Duty Free Beer/Wine etc..& another ‘free trip’.

You can’t bring back what you want (like the in Europe days) however the proper duty free prices make up for it.

Eg, 200 bensons 50£, a box of 24 largers 6£, 24 ciders 7£..

Got Brugge, Amiens, Lille and Le Touquet planned for December..
