I am setting off soon for South America and my trip will end in Cancun for a week for some R&R. After that I have no onward travel booked at the moment.

I will have come from the south, so ideally not go south again and will have been in FL a few weeks before so not back to FL.

Any suggestions for somewhere to go that's perhaps heading in the direction of home?

I was thinking of flying home from NYC so was thinking of maybe a drive around SC / NC and VA? But then £1:$1 is making me think twice about that?

The fact its a zillion miles of ocean to the west is not helping.

Do you mean to the East? If so, there's a zillion islands too! Caribbean, Bahamas, Cuba....Iceland?

No I mean there is nothing (well not much) west of Mexico before you hit the far East i.e Japan / Aus etc plus wrong direction to home.

New Orleans? For the food and the music. It's a short flight in approx the right direction.

Search online for 'what to do in cancun" - there's loads of stuff. Been a year since I was last there but did a snorkelling 'tour', swimming with turtles, exploring reefs, marine life, shipwreck and some other stuff. Was pretty decent. Was about $60 per adult iirc and around 4 hours.

Well think we are going to head to DC. 2-3 nights in DC then train to NYC for 2-3 nights then fly home.
