I just had a quick search on TUI as was considering something similar.
two adults two kids. Last week in October (well actually Friday to Friday) cheapest AI to anywhere warmish... £3800
That's laughable.
Ouch ! I’ve booked somewhere in Filey … What’s the chances of a similar temp to the Canaries ? two adults two kids. Last week in October (well actually Friday to Friday) cheapest AI to anywhere warmish... £3800
That's laughable.
Couple of years ago (pre-Covid) we found a last minute self catering deal including charter flights to Sardinia for about £600 all in for 4 people. Accommodation was close to the beach, t-shirt weather and warm enough to swim in the sea. Plenty of biting insects about still
Can't imagine there is anything identical about this year, but I'll be looking! Could do with similar. Nice and quiet there that time of year and good chance of decent weather.

My wife and I had booked half term off with the idea to keep our two young kids off rather than putting them in holiday club.
Looked at Centre Parcs £750 for the most bogo 2 bedroom lodge for 3 nights. The prices are the place have beame a joke. I think the only way you can get a half decent price is to book way ahead and even then school holiday prices are still daft. People must still be paying them.
Anyhow we've had a fortuitous situation arise when my dads place in Spain is empty (thanks brexit). Flights from English airports were expensive however we're as close to Edinburgh and Glasgow as we are Newcastle, Manchester etc. Can only assume the Scottish schools aren't off.
Obviously not everyone is in this situation but if you're looking for a half term get away have a look. We've paid £450 Inc two checked cases with Ryan Air.

I’m travelling to Turkey tomorrow via Edinburgh and Gatwick - about half the price of flying direct from Scotland.
I’ve used this disparity to our advantage in the past. My daughter attended school in England and we bagged a very good last minute deal flying from Glasgow to Orlando in late August (the Scottish school summer holidays end earlier).
Just back from 4 nights in Rhodes.
Cost us buttons to stay in a 5star on the beach in Faliraki.
Plenty warm enough to swim in sea/pool.
Everything closes this weekend but we had a great time, me, Mrs.AM and AM junior (20 year old)
Many places were shut and you needed a fleece at night but otherwise great
