Landing at Heathrow, 6.45am Monday 19th
Discussion
I booked a flight back to the UK from NZ a few weeks ago, and I should be landing at 6.45 the morning of the Queen's funeral.
My big sister should be collecting me around 8 - but what do I do then?
The sole reason for the trip is to see a portrait of my great great grandfather painted by his father in law - which is in Newton Abbot. The same gentleman owner (both a second and third cousin once removed) also has other family stuff of immense sentimental value.
I only found out the whereabouts of the painting a few weeks ago, hence the trip.
My big sister lives in Colchester, nephew in Richmond (London), and another third cousin who has other family stuff in Gerrards Cross.
Anyone any idea what that bit of London/M25 is going to be like during the day? No commuter traffic I suppose.
And will things be back to "normal" on the Tuesday?
I'm not going anywhere near Westminster Abbey or Windsor.
Monday night in Gerrards Cross? or straight down to Newton Abbot while the funeral is on?

The last time we had anything like the size of this was when Diana was buried. The roads were dead, everyone inside watching on TV, I live near Gerrards Cross so representative of that area.My big sister should be collecting me around 8 - but what do I do then?

You'll be fine. Central London is where all the disruption will be in the morning; and then a bit of disruption on the route out to Windsor in the afternoon. My big sister should be collecting me around 8 - but what do I do then?
