Does anyone know if its possible to get a tourist visa to India, without visiting a consulate? If so can they point me to the website? I did it years ago online, but for some reason am failing!

I can only seem to find a place that charged £250 or having to traipse to London

Seems this has been restored: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

OP: Don't know where you are in the UK but I've used their consulate service in Southall (obviously!) a couple of times and found it very efficient - in and out in less than hour each time. Not much use if you're in Newcastle I know!

156 countries listed as eligible except for the UK.

Feels weird not seeing us on the list.

I used CIBT for an Indian business visa (although this was back in 2012 now - time has flown!). I didn't have to visit the embassy myself. Simply sent my passport off with the application and got it back with the visa without issues.

Edit, about £250 is probably about right for their fees.

Last week, my Son-in-Law spent an entire day travelling to London, waiting his turn to be seen at the Consulate, only to be told after the 4-hour wait that he had come to the wrong consulate as Birmingham was nearer to his home address (Banbury-ish). Despite pleading his case, he was point-blank refused. He had to do it all again this week.
