Hopefully someone can clarify. I'm Planning a trip in October going from UK to Croatia through France, Germany, Austria, Slovenia.

My understanding is that I only need to have my passport stamped once when entering the Schengen area and can then move around the different Schengen countries without further passport control or having to get my passport stamped. Is this correct ?

Also, as Croatia is not fully in the Schengen area, it has adopted their rules and regulations. However Slovenia has specific crossing points into Croatia which are only available to "persons enjoying the right of free movement under the EU law" these crossings are much quieter and would be preferable. Would these crossings be available to me as someone who has been stamped in?

Has anyone recently traveled between Slovenia and Croatia or has the knowledge?

Thanks

I’ve crossed into Croatia from Slovenia over several border crossings in the last few years- no problems at all.

Which ones were you thinking of using?

Google maps gives me Spielfeld, it shows these main crossing points as having a fair bit of traffic congestion. A quiet alternative might be Podgorje. Have you had to stop at these border posts? has it been in a uk registered car?

Thanks

No, neither of them.

I highly recommend Bosiljevo. Lots of a-roads to get to it but lovely scenery. And a very decent little b&b on the Croatian side if you need a stop there.

Take a look here - https://www.total-croatia.com/slovenia-to-croatia/

Yes, every time in a British car.

Also, in October most border crossings should be fine. It’s generally only in the summer they can be hellish. Where in Croatia are you heading to?

Thanks for the advice, I'm just back from a week holiday in Zadar with my wife and thought Croatia was great to go back to with my bike and tour around. I'm also now thinking about touring in Slovenia for a few days as well.
