Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. My partner and I will be going from the UK to Tenerife early next year.
Now we are both vaccinated but only 2 doses, no booster. We asked the travel agent and they said we either need the booster or do a covid test.
One of my friends recently went to Tenerife a week or so ago and he's said you don't need the booster or pay for the test. All is needed it to get your covid NHS travel pass and check the end date. He's been to the Canary Islands and Spain several times this year.

Anyone any ideas what is correct as the Gov website isn't really clear either?

Many thanks

If you haven't had the booster, they only consider your COVID pass valid if your second jab was less than 270 days ago.

Otherwise you need to get a test and fill out their passenger locator form.

Right OK. So why does it say on the NHS app that the NHS Covid Pass Travel is valid until March 2023 even though my last jab were May 2021?

So makes no sense to me.

Ask the Spanish government! They don't have to follow the NHS rules...

Doesn’t really matter what the guidance is today if you’re not going until say February. Who is to say it won’t all be completely different in 4-5 months time.

Looking at this also, haven’t been on holiday for 2 years to avoid this nonsense but a holiday in fuerteventura is calling.

Do they accept a at home test? What do you have to do exactly then? Just had a quick Google and tests are coming up for about a tenner, are these legit for the Spanish natsee party?

If you haven't had the 3rd jab (booster) it might be worth getting it, otherwise its -

a negative COVID-19 test: either a PCR taken within 72 hours prior to departure, or an antigen test taken within 24 hours prior to departure. See ‘If you’re not fully vaccinated’.

And the locator form. Its so much easier if you have had the 3rd jab

Proof of recovery was fine for Portugal. Just find someone who's positive and get them to spit on a swab.

What is really annoying is for me I get PCR tested at work once or twice a week for free. Yet they won't accept that, it has to be one of the Governments tests for travelling. Complete con really considering the other tests you can do cost naff all but aren't accepted.

I went to Lanzarote one month ago and they were randomly checking passengers at the airport.
I imagine Tenerife is the same.

As mentioned above, if you are not going for a while then things will likely change.

As far as I'm aware it either comes to your home or you can collect it.
You do it yourself and so it's not really a controlled test. I could easily just rub it on the floor and there's no proof I did that.
