Hi all,

A two part holiday next year dictates I need to park my car at the airport/hotel. First, for 10 days at Heathrow (T5) then moving to Gatwick (S) for 15 days.

We usually use the OH’s A1, but we need to leave baggage in the boot while away on the first half of the trip which means I’ll be going in my ‘not exactly subtle’ São Paulo Yellow M4.

So - I’m hoping someone can advise on the best places to stay and park please? Ideally undercover and definitely not Valet. Sofitel Heathrow appears to have its own underground car park and is connected to the airport which is ideal. Struggling with Gatwick though.

Security is my first concern and then if it can be undercover that will be ideal!

Thanks so much,

Matt

I don’t want to sound like I have a chip on my shoulder, but just stick it In short or long stay. Short stay is undercover, and expensive. Long stay, less expensive but outdoors.

Again, not to be rude but I don’t think an M4 will be pinched from there. I’ve even left cars there for a month and been okay upon return.

Agreed. I just parked in Heathrow the other week, and there are far more valuable and desirable cars than a M4 that were parked up (and still there) when I returned after 5 days.

I use APH for London airports but I do use an undesirable car for that and although I think they offer a very good service I would probably opt for long term parking if I used a nice car

I recommend silver parking for anybody traveling from Bristol that is very good and trustworthy

Tons of flash motors parked in the various car parks at Heathrow.

Although if you're not happy, why not get a lift/taxi/chauffeur/train to take you and leave the car at home?

I park the M2 at Gatwick regularly either short term or long term. Either always felt quite secure.

Very helpful, thanks all for the help! We live in Yorkshire - using avios for flights so need to fly from London. Really appreciate the help 👌

If you'd prefer to take the A1, and are parking at the Sofitel Heathrow, why not ask if you can leave the bags with hotel instead of in the boot?

Unless you’ve got bags full of coke or similarly valuable luggage, I’d just take the A1 and leave it in the short/long stay car park. If the bags fit in the boot with the parcel shelf down I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
I also wouldn’t have any qualms leaving the M4 in the official airport car park. I’ve left range rovers (even the easily stealable ones) and Porsches there and so do hundreds of others. I don’t think many cars get broken into (or I’m blissfully unaware).

I’d far more trust that than any valet or off-site car park.

Book short stay now for next yr and not expensive.
And as others have said, you are only in a BMW.

I live near Exeter it would cost more than the flight!
