I am in the process of booking a trip to Dubai and have about 50k Avios points, not a huge amount but I was going to use them for a cheaper hotel (avios + cash), however when trying to arrange it via Qatar airways I just get a message saying 'You are not eligible to redeem Avios at this time'.
The live chat was useless, basically told me to email customer service but as I have not been with Qatar before I need to earn 1000 points with them to utilize the rest.
Having never use Avios before this is all new to me but what exactly do I need to do, can I purchase 1000 points to activate the rest or should customer service be able to rectify this so I can use them right away?
Any help appreciated.
