Hi,

I'm not a UK native but taking the car there tomorrow. Need to get to a hotel near Kensington Gardens. I've got a number of options ranging from the underground, cab and a folding bicycle.

So, in short, I'll get to Dover and drive towards London, what would you guys do? Where could I park my car for a couple of days that's relatively safe and allows me to get to Kensington Gardens within the hour?

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I would recoomend staying by the O2 in Greenwich. Both the Holiday Inn and InterContinetal have carparks and then get the Tube from North Greenwich.

Drive.

Park in the NCP car park at Cadogan Place. Walk the remainder.

Thanks, will I have to pay congestion charge or similar?

That area is outside the congestion charge zone (see map here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge... but you may need to pay the emissions charge depending what you're driving. I'm not sure how that works for foreign registered cars actually.

edit: Just seen you're coming from Dover so I would drive this route which keeps you clear of the Congestion Charge zone

Thanks for all that, truly helpful!
It's an EV so I'm usually good on emissions charges smile.

Westfield car park in Shepherd's Bush? I guess it's aimed at shorter term parking, but it might be cheaper than an NCP?

Westfield is great. Large, secure car park, usually plenty of space and there are two tube lines to choose from. Pre-covid I parked there regularly, but work has changed a bit and I'm in London less now. Sign up for their Smart Parking scheme and it's completely automatic - ANPR knows it's you and they just bill you when you leave. I think it's £15 for 24 hours. Max stay is a week but they suggest you let them know if going to be there more than a few days. They have a site in Stratford too which might be easier if coming from Dover.

This was the best suggestion.
Huge park, good connections there. Also loads of charging points including Superchargers.
Thanks.

If only I knew that there was more than one "Westfield", that would have saved me an hour getmecoathehe
