Good quality pub, inn type place to stay, Lake District?
Discussion
Haven’t been there in 25 years, but this place used to be good.

It's not the same unfortunately since it was taken over by a Pub Co a while back and has become a bit 'formulaic', still worth a visit though if only for the magnificent view from the beer terrace. No longer brews it's own or has the massive range of continental bottled beers it was famous for.https://masonsarmsstrawberrybank.co.uk/
OP - it would help if you could give a rough approximation of the area you want to be in. There is a better choice outside of the honeypot areas and prices are much more agreeable.
The Watermill at Ings might be one option and it's within walking distance of the Hawkshead Brewery at Staveley (their Beer Hall has their full range on), and also the Eagle and Child. There is a superb chippie at Staveley too

That’s a shame.

The Drunken Duck.
Expensive but used to be very good indeed. Not been for a few years, but was always a preferred lunchtime stopover. i'm sure someone with more up to date info can comment.
The Drunken Duck is stupidly expensive for what is actually pub or perhaps 'Hampstead in the Lakes'. It used to be a great Lakeland pub 30 or so years ago but now sells champers by the glass at the bar.Expensive but used to be very good indeed. I have a £100 voucher to spend there from a recent birthday (we are local) and me and the missus thought we might add to it and stay the night and put it towards an evening meal - the room we were quoted for B&B was over £400, no thanks!!!
Another option:

Stopped here for lunch on a MTB weekend last year and was impressed - lovely place and tucked away from the honeypot areas
Oops, just realised no rooms!
..worth it anyway though for lunch or dinner
