Long story short - package holiday

Flight cancelled late at night, "no hotels available", people left to fend for themselves, families sleeping on the floor at Gatwick

(We booked our own on airport hotel, 2 rooms @ £99 which exceeds their £149 per booking policy)

Rescheduled flight early AM

Total delay 11 1/2 hours by their closing the door calculation

Missed 1 day of holiday, claiming for flight delay as per EU rules

Tour company offering £100 x 6 pax vouchers

Should I be happy with that? Googlefu failing

(4 kids, youngest is 3. 8 hours of the delay spent waiting, queuing, recollecting bags, security x2 etc. we've practiced our compo faces)

As far as I'm aware, it should be £220 per passenger cash.

Depends what the delay is down to. If it's a delay due to weather or certain other circumstances, you're not actually entitled to anything.

You will likely be able to claim EU261 compensation on top of the cost of the rooms - do a bit of homework then ask the airline why it was delayed.
Got a healthy £220 for a £50 Ryanair flight that left me stranded, seemingly because the 'engineer' couldn't be bothered to fault find properly and just walked off shrugging his shoulders.
