Ideas for a reasonable mediterranean Villa type holiday?

Hi,

I haven't been on a non UK/France holiday for about 15 years. Where is good for families and reasonable cost wise on summer holidays.

I say mediterranean but doesn't have to be there, just that sort of feel. As a kid my parents used to get a villa in one of the Costas in Spain and we'd hire a car from the airport. I'm looking for the same sort of thing - sea, mountains/hills, rural.

Any tips on finding the villas would be good - is it airbnb or something else. Areas would be good to know first though. This will be for Summer 2023.

I've been a few times to the small island of Drvenik Veli, half an hour on a public ferry from Trogir. Maybe too quiet for you there as there's only two tavernas, a bakers and general grocers, and about 250 inhabitants on the whole island but the area is nice and there are busier islands too if you prefer. Trogir is a beautiful old town, the nearest town to "Split" airport.

I think you've probably got 3 approaches:

AirBnB
Generic Villa company such as James Villas
Holiday Company such as CV Villas or Simpson Travel

Maybe start with the holiday company approach, figure out exactly what you want, then investigate the other options. AirBnB isn't as cheap as you'd think - these places definitely find their own price - if it's cheap - there's a reason for it.
